Description
Organization: Creative Minds International Public Charter School
Mission: To cultivate within all of its students the mindset, skills, creativity, and
commitment to equity essential to becoming globally aware and independently
minded citizens. Creative Minds serves students from early childhood through
middle school using an international curriculum — the only one of its kind in a U.S.
public charter school — with inclusion built into its program design.
Role: Member, Board of Trustees. The board creates policy, exercises fiduciary
responsibility for the school, and delegates operational and educational functions to
the Head of School. This is a governance role, not an operational one.
Who we're looking for: Trustees who are not current CMI parents and who want to
make a meaningful, hands-on contribution to the school and its continuous
improvement.
Experience in any of the following is particularly valuable:
● Education
● Budget, finance, or broader business experience
● Fundraising
● Nonprofit governance
● Prior board service
Opportunity: Be part of a school and community that truly serves all students and
prepares them for global citizenship.
Commitment: Beginning in the upcoming school year, the board meets
approximately every six weeks (evening, 90 minutes, in-person or virtual) —
roughly seven to eight meetings annually — plus committee participation.
Three-year term. Volunteer.
Ideal candidate: A DC-area professional who shares our commitment to equity and
inclusive education, wants to engage substantively in the work, and is willing to be
an active committee member.
Diversity: We are committed to a board that reflects the diversity of our student
body and the District.
Contact: board@creativemindspcs.org. If interested in applying to serve on the
board, please send a resume and a brief statement of interest and relevant
experience. Applications will be reviewed on a rolling basis.
