The Assistant Principal/Student Recruitment Officer is directly responsible to the Director. The Assistant Principal/Student Recruitment Officer is responsible for working with the Director and the Staff in upholding a safe, non-violent learning environment while recruiting students. Maintains an atmosphere of respect and high integrity for the position and staff. Overall, possesses a very strong personal and positive attitude and can SELF-REFLECT. The Assistant Principal/Student Recruitment Officer is primarily responsible for the ELL, student discipline, staff discipline, student recruitment and other duties as assigned.
Aids the Director in the discharge of his/her duties at all times and acts
in the capacity of the Director during the Director's absence from
1. Works in the role of operational leader to promote culture that is supportive
to and conducive to the implementation of the school's mission.
Recruitment and community relations are also important areas concerning
2. In the area of staff personnel:
A. Helps in the orientation of new staff members to the teaching
environment at the Middle School, especially as it relates to the area of
pupil personnel policy and procedures and general building practices.
B. Supports teachers who have students with behavior problems.
C. Assists in the development and implementation of personnel policy.
D. Assists the Director in the supervision of staff.
3. In working with students:
A. Maintains accurate student attendance records and strives to promote
good student attendance by working with the Front Office Admin
B. Cooperates with the Phoenix Police Department, the juvenile court
system, and social service agencies.
C. Assumes responsibility for implementing discipline procedures as
stated in the Student Handbook and following the Discipline
D. Aids in new student orientation.
E. Develops innovative strategies, preventative approaches, and proactive
plans for students who exhibit at risk behaviors.
4. In the area of school-community relations and communications:
A. Acts in a supportive role with the Director in working with parents,
teachers, and the community to promote the effective flow of
B. Promotes good school-parent relationships when discussing specific
student problems with parents.
C. Represents the Director, in his/her absence, at school activities.
5. Works with teachers and students to promote building maintenance and
6. Organizes and directs cafeteria supervision during lunch periods.
7. Works in supervising all school activities i.e.,dances, concerts, orientation
programs, plays, musicals, field trips, and other special events.
8. Supports Substitute Teachers in carrying out their duties.
9. Assist with Athletics.
10. Performs such other duties as may be assigned by the Director.
