Chico Country Day School, A WASC accredited K-8 charter school established in 1996, seeks a visionary and highly effective principal to inpire and drive the school's mission to provied a safe, joyful community where all learners are inspired to achieve their personal best. The principal is responsible for the overall academic administration management of the school, including implementing an academic visiion in line with the School's charter, managing and developing staff, overseeing programmatic operations, developing a visionary technology plan, and collaborating with the Board of Directors to provide strategic direction for achieving outstanding academic outcomes and character-based life skills. the principal reports to the Board of Directors. This is an exempt position.
Education and Experience: Minimum: Valid teaching credential, administrative credential Preferred: Masters degree, 7 + years teaching experience, experience in a school leadership role
Knowledge of: California Education Code, Common Core Standards, Special education laws, IDEA and state and federal reporting requirements, current educational technology, Pedagogical theory based on current brain research.
Abiltiy to: Develop, communicate, and implement a clear vision for achieving academic excellence based on current research and best educational practices; ability to implement and adhere to the educational vision of the School as outlined in it's charter; Communicate effectively in writing and verbally in various public settings; build consensus among diverse stakeholders; synthesize and evaluate datato drive achievement of School goals; Create a culture of accountabiility based on clear and consistent policies and expectiations.
Responsibilities
Academic Leadership: Provide innovative, research-driven, and collaborative curricular and instructional leadership; attract, inpire, support, evaluate, and reward highly effective teachers; create and sustain opportunities for staff collaboration, team-building and input on professional development needs; coordinate state testing and analyze student performance data to improve effectiveness of instruction and interventions.
Communication and Outreach: Create and sustain positive relationships with parents, neighborhood and community groups, local agencies, and the other charter schools community to establish and grow egagementw ith and support for the mission of the School; work effectively with the Board of Directors on issues of governance and strategic development by seeking input and reporting regularly on School administration and working with the Board to develop an annual set of goals for the School
School Management: Supervise the daty-to-day academic operation of the School and its programs; oversee all student services, including special education, discipline, PBIS, testing, and RTI/SST/504s; work effectively with the CBO on financial and HR operations.
